bonjour a tous

I tried a USB wi-fi dongle based on the RTL8188 chipset, but unfortunately it does not seem to work.

If anyone got it working, did it require any special setup in the linux software?
(I got it working just fine on a Pi 3 b+ with built in wi-fi, but would like it to run on a Pi 2)

Sorry for the english language, but unfortunately i do not speak or understand french :|
I had the same problem.
This is the solution:

Thank you so much for your input - it looks too advanced for me to figure out (i am a linux novice), but i will definitely give it a shot! :)
Got it working! Thank you :-D The script was actually pretty easy to use.

Had a Pi4 that could not boot the RPI2DMD image, but I got that working as well (Don't know if the Pi4 is officially supported?). Next up is trying to see if I can get my Zero 2 W working the same way.

Thank you for a very cool project. Looking forward to the next code update :-D

Merci.

It is actually pretty simple. Here is what i did:

1. Connect your rpi2dmd to your network with a ethernet cable, and read the IP address from the display. Lets say your ip address is 192.168.0.111

2. Connect to the rpi2dmd via SSH. You can do this via "terminal" on a Mac computer, or the free program "Putty" on a windows PC. There a a lot of guides on the web and youtube on how to use SSH. But is is really super simple. This way you do not need to connect a screen or keyboard to the Pi - you will be using another computer to connect via SSH

- 2a. Connect using pi@192.168.0.111 (replace with your correct ip address)

- 2b. if asked about a certificate, just accept (type yes)

- 2c. Enter the password. The password is "raspberry"

3. You are now connected to the rpi2dmd, and it is ready to accept the linux commands

4. Enter the first command exactly like this:

Code : Tout sélectionner

sudo wget http://downloads.fars-robotics.net/wifi-drivers/install-wifi -O /usr/bin/install-wifi
5. Enter the second command exactly like this:

Code : Tout sélectionner

sudo chmod +x /usr/bin/install-wifi
6. If your wifi dongle is not already inserted, you need to insert it now into the Pi2

7. Enter the third command exactly like this:

Code : Tout sélectionner

sudo install-wifi
8. The script will now identify your RTL8188 chipset, download the correct driver, and install it.

Now all you have to do is make sure the wifi settings are correct in the rpi2dmd config. If it is, you can disconnect the network cable and restart. And you should now have wifi.

Hope this helps you! :) If you still have problems with the SSH part, I am happy to try helping you further, but then i need to know if you are on a Mac or a Windows PC.

Bonjour,

Suite à quoi, cela a fonctionné.!.

GREAT !

Seeing as the Rpi 3b+ are in a rather short supply, what are people using as their "go to" replacement?
Thanks!

I have used a 2b in mine, but also tested with a 4. The 2b works out of the box without wifi, but requires a USB dongle and a little software tweak if you want wifi.

The 4 also works, but requires you to replace a couple of the boot files for it to boot properly.

@admins: if I create a standard image file that works on a Pi4, would you be interested in a copy, so you can include
that in your download link?
