Capcom's International Focus
Company to spend more money and effort on US and European localization, polish.
January 29, 2004 - Publisher Capcom Entertainment on Wednesday held its Press Event 2004 in Las Vegas where the company's US and Japanese presidents outlined a new international focus. The executives also announced ambitious plans to gain more marketshare.
"The gaming industry has gotten larger and larger and so in order to be a true player we have to have a larger marketshare," the company's Japanese president remarked. "We are shooting internally for a goal of 10 percent marketshare in all three regions." He noted that he expected to achieve this goal within five years.
"We intend to put all of our efforts and all of our energy into increasing our international marketshare," he continued.
The firm's leader acknowledged a lack of polish in previous international conversions of Capcom games, and promised a change in attitude. He said that in the future Capcom would put a lot of time, money and energy into making sure that games ported from Japan to the American and European markets would feature very high-quality localization production value

Namco a présenté lors de l'AOU un jeu au concept, mmm, nouveau: The Idole Master. Le jeu est une simulation d'idole nippone (oué, les filles dont tout le monde rêve, genre ... Kylie Minogue -elle a fait Street Fighter the movie-). Jouant une "idole en devenir" parmis 9 filles différentes, le joueur devra la propulser au sommet des charts, en choisissant ses fringues, ou en participant à divers mini-jeux (soooooo exciting!).

The retro-game craze continued today at the 2004 Midway Gamer's Day in Las Vegas. During one of the presentations, representatives of the publisher revealed there will be a sequel to its popular Midway Arcade Treasures.
The second classic compilation will feature more recent games than the first, including the original Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, NARC, and Total Carnage.
No other details were given on Midway Arcade Treasures 2, but GameSpot will have them as soon as they become available.

Autre nouvelle en date, certaines rumeurs feraient état d'une éventuelle conversion Xbox de The King of Fighters 2002. Si celle-ci n'a ni été confirmée ni démentie par SNK NEOGEO USA, le site de vente américain EB Games annonce déjà le produit sans ses colonnes pour le 12 octobre et au prix de 39,99$. Il ne reste plus qu'à attendre la réaction de la firme pour en avoir le coeur net.

Mortal Kombat 3 included in Midway Arcade Treasures II

According to an article at TeamXbox, Mortal Kombat 3 will also be included in the Midway Arcade Treasures II collection.
Speaking of Mortal Kombat, the series will also be featured in the upcoming Midway Arcade Treasures II, which is set for a holiday 2004 release. Continuing on the strong stable of Midway classics, Arcade Treasures II will include the original Mortal Kombat, MKII, and MK3. Other titles set to be part of the package include the arcade versions of NARC, SpyHunter 2, Arch Rivals and Total Carnage. The full lineup hasn’t been announced, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted on what is sure to be one of the best compilation titles ever
We haven't heard official confirmation yet from Midway, but expect to hear more on this Midway Compilation in the future. It is not known at this time if the mention of MK3 above is referring to the upgraded Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 version. Thanks to Mortal Kombat Online users CAMK and takuguy for the tip-off.

Il n’y avait que la console de Nokia qui n’avait pas encore droit à son Bomberman. Cette terrible tragédie va enfin être résolue.
En effet, Nokia et Hudson Soft prévoient de sortir notre ami poseur de bombes sur N-Gage. Le jeu devrait même sortir durant le 2ème trimestre de cette année.
Un mode 2 joueurs sera disponible. Comme nous pouvons nous en douter, il vous sera alors possible d’affronter votre petit camarade de jeu à travers 5 stages.
Puyo Puyo rejoint les Sega Ages

Sega a dévoilé quels seraient les deux prochains jeux de la gamme de remakes Sega Ages à voir le jour au Japon. Il s'agit de PuyoPuyo Tsû Perfect Set et d'OutRun, respectivement volumes 12 et 13 dans cette série de jeux reliftés à prix réduit. D'aucuns auraient préféré avoir des nouvelles de Streets of Rage ou des deux Phantasy Star restants, mais Sega et D3 Publisher ont visiblement préféré assurer avec un titre populaire comme Puyo Puyo, quelques mois seulement après la sortie de Puyo Pop Fever. PuyoPuyo Tsû Perfect Set est prévu pour le 24 mai prochain au Japon, OutRun pour le 27 mai. Des adaptations de la gamme Sega Ages en Occident ont été annoncées en novembre dernier, mais on est sans nouvelles depuis.

BEATS OF RAGE: STREET FIGHTER (HOMEBREW GAME)
Gracias a dcemulation.com me pude enterar de que ya se está trabajando con un juego estilo Final Fight en el cual los personajes principales son de Street Fighter
Aunque el juego se encuentra en una fase alpha, podemos esperar algo excelente en cuando a la escena casera de la DreamCast

Capcom ne va pas très bien: des jeux comme Dino Crisis 3 et Viewtiful Joe n'ont pas remporté le succès espéré, et ducoup la firme se retrouve dans le rouge, pour la seconde année consécutive.
Capcom est un éditeur prestigieux, mais cela ne veut pas dire que chaque jeu édité est un hit absolute, un Triple-AAA comme disent les Américains. En fait, Capcom n'a pas atteint les objectifs espérés pour plusieurs titres-phares.
Il faut noter que la performance varie d'un continent à l'autre. Globalement, Capcom a vu son revenu chuter de 15% à 52.7 milliards de Yen. Le profit opérationnel n'est pour sa part que de 1.4 milliards (une baisse de 79% par rapport à l'an dernier).
Aux USA, les ventes ont baissé de 50%, Capcom USA perd de l'argent sur l'année, et pas qu'un peu: 4.6 milliards de Yen (soit 34 millions d'euros).
En Europe, la baisse est moins dramatique mais atteint quand même 35%, ce qui n'empêche pas Capcom de gagner de l'argent: 330 millions de Yen (2.4 millions d'euros).
Au Japon, le risque pris d'éditer GTA a payé et permet à Capcom d'enregistrer dans la région quelques 59 millions de Yen de profits.
Ce qu'il convient de rappeler, c'est que Capcom a réalisé plus tôt cette année une restructuration qui lui a coûté la bagatelle de 7.7 milliards de Yen. Cette somme comprend aussi la création de Clover Studio, mais aussi les autres pertes liées à d'autres activités de la société.
D'après Capcom, le résultat devrait revenir dans le vert cette année, avec un profit estimé au 31 mars 2005 de 3.9 milliards de Yen (28.8 millions d'euros). Ce retour aux résultats positifs sera aidé par les sorties de jeux online, de jeux pour PSP et NDS, mais aussi de jeux pour téléphones mobiles.
- Sammy announced they have a 251 billion yen sales and 32.2 billion yen profit for the 2003 fiscal year. A dramatic increase from 2002, which contributed by its pachinko business. The arcade business has suffered a loss of 1.65 billion yen, the game business has also incurred a 5.04 billion yen loss, due to lackluster sales of Seven Samurai 20XX and Spy Fiction. Sammy expects the arcade and game business to gain profit in 2004, particularly the Atomiswave arcade systems and major titles from Sammy Studios in US.

Avis à tous les nostalgiques, SNK a annoncé la sortie de la version 2003 de King of Fighters sur Xbox et Paystation 2 pour début 2005, avec en prime toutes les versions du jeu depuis 1996.
Rien d’autre de bien précis n’a été filtré pour le moment si ce n’est une compatibilité Xbox Live, pour la version Xbox du jeu bien sûr.-
je demande vraiment à voir si c'est vrai !!

News of the new arcade technology came in SEGA's recent financial statements, and emphasizes the company's new focus on its profitable arcade business. SEGA's recent acquisition by arcade behemoth Sammy will only emphasize that business focus.
Along with the technology provided by Imagination, it is likely that SEGA will work on Sammy's Atomiswave arcade platform, which is similar to the Naomi board and features more-humble but cost-effective technology, in future development.
Most recently, SEGA has worked with Microsoft's Chihiro board, based on Xbox architecture.

Sega a confirmé l'arrivée prochaine de Virtua Striker 4 dans les salles d'arcade avec l'ouverture de cet espace consacré à VS.NET. Sur le modèle de VF.NET pour Virtua Fighter 4, ce service i-mode permettra d'accéder à des tas d'options pour directement personnaliser son équipe avant de jouer, avec sa tactique et sa disposition favorite, mais aussi quelques mini-jeux pour obtenir des points qui serviront à créer un joueur original à l'accoutrement farfelu. Ce service VS.NET permettra également de faire le point sur vos statistiques personnelles au fur et à mesure des matchs. On ignore encore sur quelle carte tourne Virtua Striker 4, mais la réponse devrait vite arriver à l'occasion du Location Test (test public des jeux d'arcade) qui devrait avoir lieu autour du 20 juin, au Japon. Milestone vient de mettre en ligne deux nouvelles vidéos de leur premier shoot'em'up tournant sur NAOMI, Chaos Field.
La première est en fait l'explication des commandes du jeu avant de se lancer dans le premier niveau.3 boutons, le premier servant au tir principal, le second actionnant la "Radiant Sword" (comme dans Radiant Silvergun, elle sert à absorber certains tirs ennemis), A + B pour générer un bouclier absorbant lui aussi les petits tirs et l'action combiné de B et C pour lancer une Sword géante et un "super-tir" un peu comme dans Ikaruga.
La seconde vidéo est surtout la pour nous montrer tout ça en action et on doit dire que Chaos Field parait promettre de bonnes heures de jeu.On reconnait l'inspiration des séries les plus connues de shoot'em'up et le résultat est plus que convaincant.
Comme Treasure l'a initié sur Dreamcast avec Ikaruga, les différentes arrivées de boss et autres changements de niveaux bénéficieront d'une mise en scène efficace...Sans oublier les ralentissements volontaires après destruction des boss de fin ^_^.
Sortie d'ici quelques semaines sur NAOMI...Et pourquoi pas en fin d'année ou début 2005 sur Dreamcast ^_^.
