NGBC Nejibako nouveau locktest...
Ok, I went to the test in Shinjuku. It wasn't even too crowded, but I was there at night... I got a lot of chances to play.
I played a bit and watched a lot. I'm not going to be able to remember everything but I'll see what I can do. I will say that overall my impression was quite good!
System: Feels loose, but not too loose. I would venture to say it feels just right. It's not as stiff as SNK Chaos, it almost feels like a little bit looser KOF.
AB is the tactical escape, but I never really used it. It seems strange, difficult to use, but strong, like an invincible roll. It takes meter. I saw it used only a few times.
Throws (CD) are strong but you need to be at point blank, like SNK Chaos. I don't know if you lose meter when you wiff a throw or not.
A lot of the game relies on getting space when your character is too weak so you can tag out safely. If you block and press E, the tag button, you'll do the big cancel knock away move that takes some meter and buys some time to switch out. That makes throws useful. However you can throw escape.
The guard step is strong but you have to have really good timing. I saw people using it well, getting in combos after GC. Of course it works best on the last hit of a combo, otherwise your GC combo will get stuffed.
The dash/run system is really well done. Basically you hit -> -> to dash, but if you hold forward you'll run. It is implemented well and allows for KOF style rushdowns.
The red/yellow bar system is also well done and works basically just like Tekken Tag Tournament. Red is replenished slowly when you tag out that character. Managing your characters well is important. The tag attack takes off a fair chunk of red but almost no yellow. Very useful.
One thing that really impressed me was the character art, very nicely drawn. I think it's the coolest character art I've ever seen. Especially when you win, the win art is amazingly well drawn. The backgrounds are very nicely drawn but pretty much void of activity. I spotted Kain in one of the backgrounds.
The sprites are in general very well done. Antialaised and better looking than CapSNK2 in my opinion. There are a few exceptions which I will get to.
Another thing is the sound is kind of interesting, very spacey sounds for some of the attacks, but nothing was jarring.
<b>Ok, I'll try to break down each of the characters. </b>
Terry: Bascially simple Terry. I don't think he has rising tackle. Combos are strong, but no one was using him as much as the other characters. Sprite is directly (more or less) from KOF 03.
Marco: Haha, this guy is a riot. I picked him once just to mess around. His heavy machine gun is a good move but it has a lot of lag coming out. I believe it might be able to hit all the way across the screen. His regular punches are all him shooting guns and have a set range, you can't see the bullets or anything but the other player gets hit. But his regular punches can't hit someone all the way on the other side of the screen. He also has a rocketpack, which is quite powerful and can even be used to escape. I couldn't pull off any of his supers. Nicely drawn sprite, but I didn't really get to look at it in detail.
Washizuka: Strong!!! Really nice character. His super is quite good too, just like the one in Last Blade, where he pushes you to the corner. Requires a lot of work to be good though... His sprite looks very nice too. The FX on his slashes and stuff are well done IMO.
Nakoruru: Her sprite is very nice, it looks like an edited SS0 sprite. The Mamahaha attacks are nice and I think you might be able to combo them but before coming out there's some lag. The attack where she hits you with her cape is well animated. I picked her once but lost.
K': Pretty much KOF03 K', but his sprite looks slightly different. Same old K', but fun to use.
Mai: I saw her picked once. The person using her was not very good. She looks like SNK Capcom Mai but nicely antialaised.
Geese: Not as strong as Chaos. (Thank God). He doesn't seem to have a huge Reppuken (I never saw it). His raging storm has a lag in the beginning so you can't combo it, but it does crap loads of damage. Good anti air (how it should be). Looks like SNK Chaos.
Yuki: Wow... this is one crazy character. They did a really good job making this character unique, that's for sure. There was a person getting large win streaks using this character so I can say a lot. One move that is powerful is basically a "gun" like move that is a instant hit across the screen if your standing. If Yuki does his charge move 2 times he can combo 3 of them. It's not a ton of damage but he's pretty safe unless you jump very high and over the (invisible shots). He has an anti air move that looks like his arm is exploding in the air, if he charges that it does more damage, more hits. I don't think it can hit people just standing on the ground though, strictly anti air. He has a air/ground special dash that makes him very manuverable; the guy using him would do a combo, in the middle do the dash and then throw. Strong. I only think you can dash forward. He has a move where when he's jumping in the air he disappears and suddenly appears on the ground, lighting all around him. Very nice antianti air. The 'megashock' super doesn't do much damage but hits the entire screen, if your not on the ground you get hit automatically. If you have more questions about him fire away.
Ai: I used her twice, but I didn't get her at all. She can use blocks or something. Her balloon is cute.
Yuki and Ai: Their sprites are ok, but maybe need a little bit of touching up. The edges aren't very well drawn, they seem a little hard, like they need alaising. It's hard to notice unless you look hard though.
Kim: Strong as always, but his dashing super doesn't do much damage at all, which leads me to believe you can combo it like a motherf-cker. Basically normal Kim.
Tung Fu Rue - I like his sprite. He has a lot of interesting moves. People using him weren't that good. Dashing punch (looks like Yun from SF3) is very strong and seems comboable. The huge giant coming out of his back is intimidating looking!
Asura - His super is very strong! Also he is well animated. He can shoot one arrow or three, the move looks good and does decent damage, arrows go full screen, if three they kind of cluster together but don't go high at all. Seems difficult to use.
Hanzo - I like his sprite too, his moves look cool. No one was using him very well. Has his projectile, flying 'kite' move. Seems strong.
Fuma - I only saw him used once. All I know is that he's quite different from Hanzo but also well drawn.
Kyo - Used a lot, of course. Basically 03 Kyo in 02s outfit. He has very strong combos.
Iori - Same old Iori, I didn't see his new super, but he's still as strong as always.
Rock - Rock looks very nice, like Garou but anti-alaised. His counters and moves all work... nothing much else to say. I saw his counter miss once on a jump in attack...
Kisarah - She has a cute sprite, I have no idea how to use her but I saw her doing decent damage. Her bag combos deal good damage from what I remember.
Haohmaru - His sprite is like SS0 but he has stubble and his eyes glow a little. His slashes are pretty strong, but he's of course, pretty slow. Spacing is important. I liked his sprite though!
Cyberwoo - The robot seems like it was first rendered in 3D and then turned into a sprite. It animates well. I don't know much else because the person using her died too fast =)
Kaede - Strong!! It's funny how Rock and Kaede look almost exactly the same in their selection portraits though ... combos are good. Sprite is nice. No complaints except maybe to make his fireball sprite look more electric... right now it just looks like a blob of energy.
Akari - Her counter move with the guy with the bat is really funny to watch. She also has her teleport moves and they come out quite fast.
Mr. Karate - Strong!! Like a combination of Takuma and Ryo. Has the parrying fists like Ryo, so he can block and counter quickly. I saw people using him a lot, with good results. Haoushokouken can be comboed (I believe) and is very strong.
Mr. Big - Holy crap, strong. This is the other character that the one guy was using to get win streaks. I think he's slightly broken, because his ducking Jab has a lot of range, and the guy was just getting people in the corner and doing dash jab dash jab... making it near impossible for the other player to move. If the other player jumps, standing strong kick will hit them and do a lot of damage, and comes out fast enough to do on reflex. They can guard cancel the kick and attack back, or use the blocking E move to push him away, but the Jabs are too fast to GC counter, I believe, because the next one will just hit you... you can't combo them though... I think everyone just didn't know how to counter him. He has a Terry power wave like move that doesn't go anywhere, but is useful for keeping the other player blocking. His super where he hits you in the air and juggles you with his sticks is very very strong.
Shermie: I picked her just for the hell of it, but I can't use her at all. That being said, I got the impression that she will have trouble in this game where everyone has projectiles, and there's no roll. But I have no idea, really. Sprite didn't seem too different but she had a lot of cute poses. In her forward strong does she always stick out her chest?
Hotaru: No one could use her properly but I have the feeling she'll be strong. Nice sprite, like Garou but a little skinnier.
Robert - As said earlier, his standing animation is a little overdone, but it's not so bad. Has high/low projectiles like Sagat. Sprite is maybe 80% new? Seems strong but crumbled to Mr. Karate.
Lee - Seems very strong but needs a lot of practice to win. I like his animation. His combos also seem difficult.
Moriya : Nice and strong, I liked how he looked and his combos did a lot of damage. Didn't notice any new moves.
Genyjuro: As strong as Moriya. I liked the way his sprite fit with the other characters especially. One of his supers is his card fireball that bounces up in the air and comes down when blocked (I guess it's impossible normally). You can get some good damage from it.
Chonrei - Quite strong. I liked the way his dashes looked. He has a super that his a multihitting fireball that stuns you, kind of like Gills Agias Reflector in SF3 but a ball shape. His fireballs are strong.
Chonshu - Saw him once. It was hard to tell how she was but the sprite was nice...
Shiki - I picked her and promptly died. Seems like 100% SNK Chaos sprite.
Mudman - Wow, what a nicely drawn sprite. Animation is very nice and detailed. Has one fireball that runs straight forward and one that fires up in the air and comes down. I saw someone getting a win streak with Mudman and Iori..
Mars and Athena weren't there at all, there were two blank spots on the character select screen...

http://www.cyberfanatix.com/index.php

I also went today, (Wednesday) and I have updated impressions!
AB tactical step: I began using it more today, and it's really nice if you want to dodge someone's attack and counter quickly. It recovers fast and can suprise an opponent.
Throw CD: Throws are really good because they allow a nice guessing game; is he going to rush me down and throw or should I block his huge combo followup... it's a good mixup for every character.
Bruitage: Rock's teleport, for instance, has an interesting Sci-fiish sound that goes with it... =)
les persos:
TERRY: Terry was picked quite a bit today, and his Buster Wolf does a lot of damage.
MARCO: I picked him again today, and it looks like he is going to need a lot of work to get good with. He seems like he could be very capable in the right hands, however. I managed to pull off the 'helper guy doing a huge fireball super', and it made everyone at the cabinet laugh. Basically he walks back and forth a few times on the screen before releasing his hadoken, and I don't really know if there is a faster way to activate it... he is animated very well though...
WASHIZUKA: He also has some nice secondary colors, and a good air game, it seems. He has the red/black colors from the EX version of Last Blade 2... which look bad ass... =)
NAKORURU: On second thought, I was looking today and it looks like a brand new sprite, animated exceptionally well.
The hawk flies extremely fast though!
K': He has all the moves that 03' K' has. Comboing the super uppercut is easy.
MAI: Today I saw a better person using them, and I can't see any evidence that it is a new Mai sprite. I really looked for new animations, but everything seems taken from SNK Chaos.
ASURA: Looks like he also has a normal counter move where he uses his axe...
HANZO: Today I saw a good person using Hanzo. He has a mid-air teleport where he teleports a little forward and falls straight down, which is good for throwing the other player's timing off. His super fireball is nice and strong. Seems like a combo oriented character...
FUMA: I used him myself today. Maybe he's a good character but Hanzo seems better. For one thing, Fuma's fireball hits high and seems duckable.
KYO: He has all of the moves from KOF, none of them seem changed at all. He has very strong combos where he can knock you in the air and juggle with the flame super.
ROCK: I saw someone connect his whole huge combo super for nice damage. Also Raging Storm has to be very close to hit. I don't think he has delay getting out of it... the move seems designed strictly for anti air, not for combos..
KISARAH: I like her but I have no idea what she's all about. Fun to watch though...
HAOHMARU: I used him again today. His strong slash is very strong. He has most, if not all of the moves from SS. I was getting good damage in by faking the tornado and hitting them as they jump in, comboing the uppercut, and catching them with the huge, strong slash. In the right hands, good.
AKARI: Her teleport moves have a lot of mixups; she can roll in place, jump twice, and land early to deceive the opponet! The attack where the bell falls on the opponent is nice, but the bell seems ripped straight from LB and looks very blurred. =P
SHERMIE: Holy crap, was I wrong. Shermie is strong!! Her throwing game is top notch! Also, she has a super flying electric knee attack that is simple to combo and gives her some versitility. Someone good with her was using her today, and winning a lot.
HOTARU: Today, I saw someone using her 'O' super to catch people a lot. Also, I forgot to mention that she has two new stances. One where she is backturned, and one where she is crouched down low. These stances lead to launchers and combos... very similar looking to Xiayou from Tekken.
CHONSHU: I used Chonshu today... his teleport is very well done... I won once using that teleport to mix up. Combos look strong if you can pull them off...one super is similar to Chonrei's...but it doesn't go forward at all, suitable for combos...
Scratch that; Athena was in the house! She had an uppercut move where she turned into a mermaid, she can shoot arrows on the ground or mid air, and holding down the button makes them flaming arrows.... her supers seem like they are taken from SNKCap, I saw her riding a lion shooting 3 fireballs like before...
I took another video today before promptly being told that I couldn't take pictures. I was shocked and surprised, but I wasn't able to negociate a settlement... sorry guys, only one more movie that I will share shortly.
This game seems to be shaping up to be very nice... lots of people at the loke test!

Cyber Woo:
In the Osaka District, known due to its important technological industry, we find the Makijima company.
"OK, all adjustments of the new technology are ready. Height: 260cm. Weight: 2 Tons. Code name: CYBER-W00. The antropoid multipurpose droid can be now activated."
All the members of the company and the Makijima Family look passively, everything is ready to activate it. The only thing left is... giving it a name.
From a flying pod, the 2nd daughter of the Makijima family shouts a name loudly, and it's inmediately accepted.
It'll be called... Cyber Woo (...)
Battle Coliseum Tournament is in the sight and Cyber Woo can't lose, for the Makijima familiy's sake!
Kisarah
In the Kanto area, there's no man that can't stop shaking after hearing THAT name. In the west side of Japan, Joe, also known as the the red panther of Kanto, is been missing for 3 months.
Kisarah talks with her contacts in Japan, because she also doesn't know how he dissapeared. Someone tells Kisarah about how suspicious is his dissappeareance, just some days before the Battle Coliseum. Kisarah gets distracted for a while, and then she leaves.
"Joe, wait for me, because you're my boyfriend!"
An innocent high school girl, fighting desperately in the Battle Coliseum.
"Joe! I'm gonna do my best against you, eh?!"
Mr Karate/Ryo Skakazaki
Always together with Robert Garcia, they're the "Tiger and the Dragon" of the Kyokugenryu Style, both of them with equal capabilities and trajectories in karate.
Nowadays, he lives his life peacefully as one of the instructors of the Kyokugenryu dojo, and it's been a long time since he entered a fighting tournament.
But those persons close to the dojo ujnderstand this very well: This combat school aims to the perfection, but it needs something to grow up.
The Battle Coliseum aperture letter had been received since january, and the martial arts world is excited and happy due to one single new.
The Invincible Dragon fights again.
Mr. Karate goes beyond the biggest limits!
Robert
KK note: I'll warn you. This story may have some translation errors, but that's because Robert talks in a weird japanese dialect :/
The powerful Tiger of the Kyokugenryu.
That was his nickname before, he has the responsibility of being one of the main pillars of the school, and he had been training and studying for a lot of years, but currently his passion for combats has faded down, compared with other times.
"This very quiet life, like a marriage (??!! did he get married or he's simply lazy?), with peace and tranquility... it's not bad, right, Ryo?"
But that quiet life was interrupted with an announcement: "Ryo Sakazaki will join the Battle Coliseum! The Invincible Dragon will fight again!". Robert felt ashamed
"I thought Ryo was in his climax, but he's still surpassing himself!"
The Raging Tiger wakes up after a long dream. The Tiger and the Dragon once again at the Battle Coliseum!
Hanzo
In the Iga mountains, we can find the lonely figure of a ninja, training all day and night. The japanese pride is burning in his chest. It's the leader of the Iga Ninja clan, Hattori Hanzo.
"Fuuma and Mudman?! Seriously?"
According to the reports, the Battle Coliseum (it was written in hiragana originally) was near the castle, a place full of man-to-man fights.
"What? That man, too?"
Not believing the reports, Hanzo takes the lead. Boss of the Iga forces and lonely warrior, he inmediately decides to participate in the Battle Coliseum.
"From now on, I will make my fists sound like a resounance!"
Fuuma
Dr. Brown owes a great amount of money, due to all the resources he needed for his researches during the last years.
The doctor is suffering because he can't pay his doubts, he indirectly accepted money from WAREZ (thanks to one of their associated offices), and they're well-known because of their high pay bills and cruel doubts covering methods, but, finally, the doctor finished his new time machine as a warranty for his payment, and he has to hand it over. However, the doctor now repents for making this, in the deepest part of his heart...
"Fuma-kun, I'm begging you. Take the time machine back."
"Eh, but that's your business"
"I heard a lot of very beautiful women will enter the Battle Coliseum"
"That's so bad, doc. Leave everything in Fuma-sama's hands!"
It's decided, one more participant will join the Battle Coliseum
Kim
The WAREZ Enterprise is increasing its influence, even inside Korea. In order to grow faster, they are buying properties by force, and other illegal actions. Everyone in the country are talking about this scandal.
"We can't allow them to keep on acting like this, right?"
Kim asks Chang and Choi (who are making their exercises) this question, while he's checking the first columns of the newspaper. They don't answer because they're totally exhausted.
"I'll have a meeting with their sponsor from here. It's necessary to show them that the True Way is the way of Justice and the Truth. Very well... I'll participate in the Battle Coliseum!"
Choi and Chang put they sight on the sky (but they do it to see the weird face Kim did).
Mudman
A new hotel complex and a golf field is planned to be constructed in the territory of a pacific village in Papua New Guinea. The natives refuse to leave the place, but the legal department of WAREZ is very smart and it managed to make the construction go on. A natural resources' shark arrived to the village and took their tranquility away from them, and the date of beginning of the construction is getting nearer, as the natives are abandoning the place.
The unfortunate natives resort to the ancient traditions of their village. Since hundred of years ago the legend of the spirit-warrior Mudman exists, they offered sacrifices to the statue that represents this spirit, and all natives are praying and wishing the same thing:
"Mudman-sama, we beg you!"
"Help us, Mudman!"
The voice of their hearts goes beyond the barrier of time and it arrives to ancient times, touching the heart of the spirit-warrior.
"Faafa, god of earth! Grant our wish and guide us to the future!"
Geese
"Gee... Geese Howard? I thought you were dead..."
South Town's mayor was perplexed and confused, as Geese sits down, tranquilly, in a chair located in front of him and lights a cig"
"Mr. Mayor... what? Do you find inconvenient that I'm still alive?"
"No, it's not that... you know, your contacts in the city are not in the business anymore..."
Geese listens to the mayor, while turning his back on him, and then he makes a discrete laugh. Truly, the Howard business are not working nowadays, but...
"You'll soon hear about it. A new martial arts tournament is coming and I'll participate. I count on you so my way will be totally out of any inconvenience"
"If I show my inmense power during the Battle Coliseum, I'll control this city once more... because the true ruler of this place has come back..."
Terry
"Note: Aperture of KOF Maximum Mayhem. This time, in its 10th anniversary..."
While he was resting from all his travels around the world, and when Terry was thinking about going back to his birthplace at (2nd) South Town, he received an invitation to a great martial arts tournament. Terry is invited as champion and defender of the title (KK note: and this is why I LOVE Terry Smile ), but there was another name in the note.
"What's wrong, Terry?" A guy with blonde hair and red eyes asked.
This young fellow, Rock Howard, will surely have the wings of a great bird, but for now he's only a little chicken looking for his independence. The moment when he'll have "his real battle" is closer, and he's been wanting to experiment those bigger scenarios.
"Rock, do you know anything about this tournament we're invited?"
Rock
The rumor spread all over South Town instantly: TERRY IS BACK!
The Hungry Wolf, that left the town with the unique son of Geese Howard, Rock, has returned.
Tourney champions in their glorous come back... they are not, but they've achieved a great reputation as a team, as long as they participate in the new martial arts tournament, the Battle Coliseum. The town is excited again.
"OK. Let's go, Terry!"
Rock looks calmed, he even doesn't want to presume anything, while he's wearing his gloves in his hands. His fighting spirit is completely in his interior.
This great bird has opened his wings to the sky. The time to leave the nest has come.
Marco
Marchrius Rossi.. Also known as Marco Rossi. Liteaunant of the Pilgrim Falcons, first commander of the campaign.
1st Class programmer, elite solder, he has completed a lot of missions with the secret weapon "Slug", and also, a veteran with a lot of ackowledgements medals due to his sucess in battles. An excellent soldier.
After finishing a mission, Marco was enjoying his vacation in Idaho, when an emergency message arrived.
"What the hell?! Gral. Morden?!"
Information said gral. Morden was still alive, and also he joined WAREZ.
"Marco and Fio, please come back, we need support!"
A new story begins in 1917 at Japan, the Metal Slug is moving...
Mars People
MAAPI-kun, Saito san, in the 3rd quarter asked an order of ramen!"
"PIPO (ok...)"
Thanks to Marco Rossi, the martian plans of Worldwide Invasion failed. One of the things... excuse me!... one of the Mars People was stuck on planet Earth, with no chances to go back to its own world. Now he lives and works in a restaurant in the Suita market, in Osaka.
In the beginning, the barrier of language was impossible to dodge, but thanks to his tentacles he was able to use the corporal language efficiently and that helped him a lot. Now he can be understood by all the staff of the restaurant and he gets along with them very well.
Today was a very busy and tiring day, he takes his bandana off and he removes the announcement located out of the restaurant and he relaxes while taking some beer with the owner of the place. The owner says "PIRRI..."
"If WAREZ helps you, maybe you could go back to Mars"
The owner gives him a ticket for the preliminar fights, and tells him "go..."
"POPIPIO (boss...)"
The Mars People takes the ticket, trying to hide his tears... maybe, with this, he'll be able to reunite with his race, at Mars.
Lee Pailong
The White Dragon has been famous in a lot of years, because of his miraclous remedies. But WAREZ's hand has extended its hand to Lee Pai Long, the man behind the place's success.
"If you kindly show us the formula of your remedies, we can trade it for a considerable amount of money. But if you don't..."
WAREZ frequently tried to force Lee to distribute drugs at his business and to reveal the secrets of his medicines. Previewing the consequences, Lee controlled his acts and he resisted everything, but when the danger reached his family, it was too much.
"This youngmen finished with my patience. Hyoo!!"
The legendary acrobatic claw has been resurrected. The Cherry Tree White Dragon has decided to return to the battle, even when he's 70.
Tung Fu Rue
According to the tradition, reaching a very old age equals to prosperity and the "golden years". Tung Fu Rue seems to fit in that description.
Terry Bogard's and Geese Howard's master, expert in the sacred art of the 8 Limits Fist. Able to control his chi with absolute freedom, even when he's +70 years old, it seems that he wqn't to quit the "Active Service" announcement for now.
"Yare yare... today's boys don't know how to use correctly their chi"
He says that, while he watches the preliminar rounds of the Battle Coliseum.
"Oh well. This is a good chance to teach those kids how to fight properly".
Chon Rei
"Could it be? Does WAREZ have the sacred scrolls?"
The Jin bothers, Chonrei and Chonshu... no, the spirits of their ancestors that are within their bodies now are looking for the Dynastic Qin's Water Dragon and Heaven Dragon scrolls. If they manage to find them, tradition says they'll be able to get their own bodies in this modern era. "If we fnd them, this way of life so uncomfortable will finally be over"
"Keeping our servants and the luxury we have now wouldn't be so bad, though"
Chonshu
"Oh, now I understand. WAREZ has the sacred scrolls, doesn't it?"
"If we fnd them, this way of life so uncomfortable will finally be over"
"Heh heh... very good, let's take them back".
Goddess Athena
Athena was, once, one of the protectors of the Heaven, but in order to compensate an error, she was sent back to earth to repeat her training.
"Training only the body and the arts of battle is not enough, it's very probable that I need to do something here because my presence was required down here on earth"
"God said something like 'Do something for other people's benefit' but I don't understand... (what if I donate blood? Will it work?)".
This poor exiled daughter of heaven was trying to figure out the best way to accomplish her mission. Something related with this human world can be that evil WAREZ company, source of a lot of rumors, and it's said that they're organizing a big martial arts tournament.
"Yeah, that must be it! Oh, Athena, you're so intelligent"
Kaede
Shinnosuke Kagami is beaten, it was Kaede the one that supressed that menace from the past in the present. And he suddenly became Seiryu (Blue dragon of east).
But... the hell's gates are still opened in heaven. The key and the method to seal them are still unknown, and a very bad omen keeps on doing echoes in the world.
And when it seemed that nothing could be done to fix the situation:
"There's a tournament organized by great powers from Occident -the Battle Coliseum-, and it's said that the champion will obtain great powers and knowledge".
"If I win the tournament, maybe I might get the necessary knowledge to close hell's gates".
Kaede raises his arm, holding the Hayatemaru. While he's in that position, his doubts are gone.
"I will close the hell's gates... for Seiryu's sake".
Moriya
"You will blame your inexperienced skills, if you stay in my way..."
"Kassatsu Ittou Ryu style, Midari Getsugekka!"
The blood is spread on the fresh snow, there's only one man without a trace of it on him, he retires the blood from his sword with a single move, before sheathing it. The snow keeps on dancing on the assasin of suspicious aspect, while it drops and it's accumulating.
Here, for a while he was attacked by enemies he hadn't seen before. "Why did they attack me?". Moriya can't figure that out, but one of the murderers was able to say something before dying. A clue that revealed it all.
"The method to seal... the hell's gates... the Coliseum..."
Moriya leaves the snowfield. That business from his past hasn't been solved yet.
Washizuka
It's the beginning of a new government, the year is 1864. In Kyoto, Matsudaire Ryo takes charge of the city' security force, the most powerful patriot group against foreign influence. After the incident at Ikeda house the Shinsengumi is adquiring power rapidly.
The names of the soldiers of the regiment are spreading around the city, but never openly. Between those names, Keiichiro Washizuka.
Since some months ago he's been investigating an incident related to the hell's gates, and judging from the information gathered, apparently the occidental company WAREZ is involved with this affair. If the boss of that company is arrested, it's probable that the information necessary to manipulate the hell's gates can be obtained. Also, it's suspected that WAREZ is responsible of the incident where the Bakufu leader dissapeared.
"I'll get the WAREZ leaders. For my loyalty's force, I'll show them now!"
Under the flag of the truth, Mibu's wolf has shown his teeth.
Akari Ichijo
"An appropiate person to be the sucessor of Seimei. It would be good to obtain the power of the 4 gods..."
In a big room in Ichijou's house, Akari wakes up. Near her bed, the 4 colors bell is ringing.
Even now, the hell's gates are opened at heaven. Some months ago there were some incidents related to that door, its influence in this world hasn't worn out and has harmed, with no doubt, the health of Akari's elder sister. Definitely that's the cause.
While she woke up, her father appeared and said:
"Listen to me, the rumor between the people is -Battle Coliseum-
Hell's gates... in the Battle Coliseum, fight, you're allowed to!!
HEY, HEY, AKARI! DID YOU ONLY HEAR THE LAST WORDS?!"
Nakoruru
WAREZ' natural resources exploiting has been damaging the natural enviroment, reaching a point where it couldn't be stopped.
They merciless destroy the forests, they pollute the water, throw (without stopping) a lot of radiactive remains, all flora disappeared quickly, animals are dying, and dead and deformed fishes were floating on the rivers.
"Mother Nature is crying..."
The trees' and birds' screams arrives until the far north territory. Between the ainu there's a sacred maiden called Nakoruru, all sad screams arrive to her ears asking for help, and each day they are louder.
"Don't worry... I'm on my way"
It's afternoon, wind blows toward the south for the first time. In Kamuikotan, Nakoruru's homeplace, spring came first.
Haohmaru
"Are strong people gathering in the occident?"
Rumors like this one can be heard in the inn. Of course, that must be europeans' business. A real-combat tournament has been opened, where powerful warriors live or die, using weapons or never seen techniques.
When he listened to this... Haohmaru decided what to do.
Haohmaru is a town musashi from a decadent family of nobles, he has an impressively trained body (1.76m and 80 kilos), wearing very loose clothes, always holding his excellent Fugudoku and a bottle of sake. Showing a dull but sincere aspect. Now he's traveling from territory to territory training in the arts of combat, living by himself.
Haohmaru is in that inn, when he filled his bottle with sake he finished all the preparatives.
"Mi arms are unquiet. Tonight, I'll celebrate with a drink!"
Genjyuro
10th year of the Takara era (1760), Yamajiroguni (Country of the hill's castle), village of Anjoumura. Here, an assasin was born.
Since he was a kid, he had to leave his home after killing his own mother, later he trained as an apprentice of Kafuin Nikochin, in the Ancient Shadow school. During this time, he discovered his natural skills. He become strong, stronger than his training partner, Haohmaru, but due to his evil battle ways Nikochin expelled him. After this, he dedicated his life in killing.
One day, while he was in the red zone of the city, he hears some rumors in the place. It's said that Haohmaru will participate in the great-scale tournament that was taking place in the south. He could barely listen to that while resting in his bed, and then he throws his pipe. The name of this asassin is Kibagami Genjuro.
"Haohmaru, I'll kill you"
And about the prostitute that's near him, he can't ignore her forever. This whispering man has eyes full with madness, and he smells like blood.
Shiki
Shiki, the half-shadow woman transformed into a marionette, manipulated by the evil emperor Yuga.
WAREZ is very interested in Yuga and his attempts to create a new god of darkness, with the union of the positive and negative principles of the world. Also they're interested in the other 2 people summoned from another dimension. They expect to obtain, from that useful data, ideas for the research and development of new weapons.
Onmarin and Youshinrin. With her two swords at hand, Shiki goes on with her solo battles.
To return to Yuga's hand, Shiki's controller.
To return to the world of shadows.
Asura
Being defeated after trying to defeat emperor Yuga, a man is a prisioner in another dimension. His name is "Asura".
"Asura" means "the one that betrays the gods". That name fits him very well. He uses the 7 legendary weapons, and he's the strongest hell's soldier.
He was sealed by Yuga's dark arts until the end of time. But Asura could finally free himself from that spell.
He escaped from his prison and he shows himself at the Battle Coliseum... to accomplish his vengeance.
Ouf!

had 10 or so games today.
kim was again being used by alot of ppl as was kaede.
tung doesnt seem to be able to connect any of his supers in the middle of his anti air spirit attack
im getting better with him though and i see his potential to be a strong character. his weakpoint which was so accurately pointed out in the latest arcadia is his miniscule range. c.LKx2 will put you out of range to link a c.HK which i combo his qcb+A dash punch into to keep the pressure on with. c.LKx1 doesnt really give you time to link near as easily as doing two does.
the gcfs seems well implemented. ppl do it in the middle of supers but no one is using it to whore throws ala svc and although its way to early to say how it will balance out in the end (useless, good or broken) it seems well balanced at this stage.
throws when whiffed cost bar i think, one thing is the whiff animation is very long, you are left open for what seems like a full second so be sure with your throws otherwise kim will c.LK you into a huge combo ending with a cancelled super!
c.LKx2 with tung (or nearly anyone for that matter)->dash->throw is a great tactic which feels awesome to pull off!
tagging is working really well at this stage. theyve (snkp) obviously learnt their lesson with 2k3. you have plenty of chances to tag out and you can do it while blocking which works like a CD counter in kof. you only really get shafted before you can tag when you risk keeping a character with like 25% health in and then the guy combos you and does enough damage to kill you outright with that much energy. you can really ramp your rush down game up when the opponent has only a sliver of energy left and they are desperately trying to tagout. that can be a really fun situation (and intense).
marco is good but his normals sorta suck.. for the best with his mixup options being crazy with the ground missle and grenade moves. if he had a nice ryu style c.HK hed be a nightmare on the rushdown (not to say he already isnt good at rushing down!) hes all about rushing in as the grenade rolls along the ground or whistles through the air.
geese, asura, akari, moriya, etc arent getting used at all where i play. i saw a guy really doing well with chonshu and chonrei today. that big fireball that sits in one place is great for setting up a rush down on an opponent as they wakeup. hes got lots of mixup options after it too.
hanzos air teleport is really good. he can basically just drop out of the air above you and kick or punch on the way down.
used terry today and though hes pretty vanilla moveset wise hes relatively powerful with great normals (though they stuck with the 2k3 no cancelling into c.HK grrrrrrrrrrrrr).
load times are ok though add to that the fact there is fucking about with card reading and a screen to decide whether you want to use one or not (with a 10 second timer) and well it can take a while to get into the friggin game!
hyper charge, auto charge, the timer and damage all seem to be nicely balance at (once again) this stage. it is certainly holding up much better than svc and even 2k3 by this point..
the major vid posting sites (kohatsu, acho, etc) havent got any info about tourneys in the near future so it might be a while till vids turn up (japanese players only take vids of tourneys and games that are on test as a rule so...). maybe eight one will be kind enough to do a vid...?
